Reefit  Headsail

Furling  Systems

Built for absolute confidence at sea.

Born in bass strait, trusted around the world.

Reefit headsail furling systems are designed, engineered, and built in Tasmania, Australia — in the path of the Roaring Forties and on the doorstep of Bass Strait. These are demanding marine conditions that influence every part we make.

Reefit systems are built for smooth furling, low maintenance, and long-term reliability in demanding sailing conditions.

Engineered for long term reliability

Reefit systems are engineered for consistent, long-term reliability under real marine conditions.

Rather than chasing catalogue specifications, Reefit focuses on how furling systems perform over years of exposure to wind, load, salt and wear.

The result is equipment that works predictably, consistently, and with minimal intervention—over decades of use.

Designed to eliminate common furler failures

Reefit was developed after years of servicing other brands of furlers that seized under load, failed prematurely & required constant maintenance.

Instead of working around these issues, Reefit systems were designed to remove them entirely through stronger structural engineering, simplified mechanical systems & carefully selected materials.

The result is a furler designed to keep working with less maintenance and fewer failure points over time.

Who is Reefit built for?

Reefit systems are designed for:

  • Offshore cruisers and liveaboard sailors

  • Coastal sailors who want dependable equipment

  • Owners who value long-term reliability over the cheapest upfront option

  • Boats sailing in demanding conditions

  • Sailors who expect equipment to perform when it matters most

Why Owners Choose Reefit

Smooth control under load
Low-friction bearing systems help provide easy furling and reefing, even in demanding conditions.

Low Maintenance
No grease, no complex servicing - just an occasional freshwater flush.

Built for saltwater exposure
Materials are selected for long-term use in the marine environment.

Designed For Long Service Life
Reefit systems are built to operate for decades, not just seasons.

Enduring, Practical Engineering
Attention to detail at the design stage and careful material choices mean little maintenance, easy furling, and long life.

A System You Don’t Have to Think About

Reefit systems are designed so that when conditions worsen, your equipment doesn’t become the problem.

It simply keeps working.

Proven in Real

Offshore Conditions

Ken Gourlay — World Record Circumnavigation

Ken Gourlay, OAM — world-record sailor and 2008 Tasmanian Australian of the Year, completed a solo, non-stop, unassisted circumnavigation in 179 days, 21 hours, 37 minutes

His voyage covered more than 22,000 nautical miles, including extended time in the Southern Ocean, where conditions push both sailor and equipment to their limits.

“On the forestay we used the locally made Reefit furlers… In the Southern Ocean, with 70-knot winds, even a six-square-metre sail felt too big.”
— Ken Gourlay, OAM

Reefit furling systems were used throughout the voyage in winds up to 74 knots, sustained heavy loads and long-duration offshore exposure.

That is not simulated testing. That is real-world offshore use.

Refined Through Real Use

Reefit systems have been installed on cruising and offshore yachts since the early 1990s.

Design improvements are shaped by user feedback, installer experience, and long-term observation in demanding sailing conditions.

Designed & built in Tasmania

Reefit systems are designed and built in Tasmania, Australia, where salt air, strong winds, heavy seas, and continuous exposure to salt and moisture are part of everyday marine life.

This environment determines our material choice, component design, and approach to long-term reliability.

Backed by a 10‑Year Warranty

A comprehensive 10-year warranty backs every Reefit system.

It reflects our confidence in the design, materials, and manufacturing quality behind every system — and our commitment to long-term support after installation.

  • "I replaced an old Seafurl furler with a Reefit about 6 months ago. Very impressed with the Reefit. Price in Aus is good and you can ring and talk to the guy who makes them which I did several times."

Owner - Catalina C42, Brisbane, Australia

  • "I received the furler last week and had a good look at it out of the box. My rigger and I are very, very impressed with the quality of these Reefit furlers. He (the rigger) had installed a few in the past, but the new batch is a step up from the earlier models which were already a good bit of kit.

Owner - Cole 35, Melbourne, Australia

  • "If it wasn’t great enough 20 years ago when I set the Australian record for non stop circumnavigation, they have just done it again. No maintenance required for either the headsail or staysail furler."

Ken Gourley - OAM and Australian Record Holder

  • "Our boat has used the Reefit furler for maybe 20,000 miles. been around Australia twice, cross the Southern Ocean four or five times, around Tassie lots these last three years and it work great. Simple, maintenance free."

Jack - Sailing Guide, NSW, Australia

  • "Very good furling systems - well engineered and sail friendly."

Steve Walker - Sailmaker, Wynyard Tasmania

  • "I have a Reefit on our Adams 12, which is at Kettering. It is a wonderful piece of gear - well constructed and simple."

    Owner - Hobart Tas

  • "I have the Reefit furler on my boat. It is very simple to use, even for my 9yo. It's very well made equipment and was recommended to me by a guy who had used it on his boat for a world circumnavigation again without a fault."

    Bill

  • I have a Reefit on my Bristol 38.8, also locally a HR 42 and a Beneteau 50 have them as well- nice, simple and robust system at a reasonable price.
